hey. so my dad and i wanna go out on our bay here and kayak just for fun.
i was wondering if one, the pelican gust and pelican pilot are any good for beginners and just for fun? and if we have to do anything special to the boats since we'll be in salt water mostly?? does that affect the boat differently?

thanks

hello there, you should be fine in the pelican gust and pilot. I have a pelican castaway 130 and its does great for just touring or fishing. Have fun.

Pelican makes a pretty good paddle too. Walmart sells them site-to-store for $50. They compare to paddles that cost over $100. They're yellow. They have aluminum shafts, but the blade has a nice design and they're strong enough to push off of the bottom or whatever you need to do. I have one and I'd recommend them. Ii'm going to use it for my new 17' Necky Chatham until I feel the need to upgrade.
