Nice Sunday Outing

We went out this last Sunday and caught a perfect day on the river. No WIND ! We made about 5 miles total for our first time out this spring. Even up river was a joy with no wind to buck and no waves. We ended up under an Eagle nest for about an hour watching mom and dad feed the young'ns. This was only the second outing for my wife but she is hooked now even thought she can't sit in front of a conoe and let the motor (me) do the work. Now she wants to upgrade from her Ottor to a better kayak. If I knew this was going to cost me money ???? We are getting in shape for our spring trip down the Niobrara river , we'll be running down stream and willl do 20 miles in a day.

I live near a big lake in Minnesota with great kayaking because the lake is within the public water system of St Paul, no motorboats are allowed on the lake. Just about every time I go out I see great blue hurons, or deer on the shoreline. The kayak is a great tool for exercise and seeing wildlife...

This time of year the water is still cold but that makes it very clear and with polarized sunglasses I can also look down and see many very big fish in this lake which also does not allow fishing.
