Hey everyone! I'm another paddler from Kentucky.
I got into kayaking at age 16, when I worked in the Adventure Programs Department of Otter Creek Park, and I often had to teach others how to kayak, or lead a group of inexperienced kayakers down the creek. I worked there for two summers, and when the park closed due to state budget cuts, I saved up and bought my own kayak.
I own an Otter XP, made by Old Towne. It's the "cloud" color, which means blue in english. :o) I just bought her over the summer.
Thus far I've mostly just done recreational (generally smooth water) kayaking, but I'm looking to get into whitewater kayaking once the weather warms up. I'd love to go on some overnight kayak/camping trips too, even though my kayak isn't particularly the best for those kinds of recreation.
Currently I'm a student at the University of Kentucky, majoring in Natural Resource Conservation & Management. I'm somewhat of a hippie and I tend to ramble a lot. Besides paddlesports, I enjoy camping, hiking, reading, gardening, traveling, swimming, spelunking, and playing my new ukulele that I got for Christmas. I look forward to learning a lot on this forum and getting to know everyone better.
