Are any of you also camping while on your paddle trips?
I haven't done any overnight camping in years, but I'm gathering gear to get back into the camping. So far I have purchased a Hennessy Hammock and done a couple of brief test hangs just in my woods. It's going to be a challenge loading up a 10 ft boat to camp out of. This is when a 12 ft. boat would come in handy. I may even just cave in and use my old heavy canoe.

:DI DID IT!!:D
This past weekend, July 16 & 17, 2011 was my reintroduction back into rough camping. Two of my trusting girlfriends and I loaded up three 10 foot kayaks and put in for the weekend. We paddled on the Green River (Ky.) from the spillway below Green River Lake to Roachville Ford Rd. I made prior arrangements with some very kind landowners who graciously allowed us to camp on their bottom land. I was informed where firewood was available for our use (already cut). The pleasant surprise was the owner went down and mowed off the entire lower field before we arrived. The view was beautiful! There aren’t many land owners who would be so kind and helpful. I did as I promised and left the area just as I found it and plan on driving back to drop off a little something to show my appreciation.
The water was running a little slower than my personal preference but we were in no hurry. We got in the water ourselves to slowly float along side with our boats during the trip. Don’t you just LOVE the hot summer!!
Setting up camp went pretty smooth. I still need to go through and sort all of my gear to see what will make the next trip. Anything that I didn’t use (other than the first aid kit) will stay at home. There are some things I wish I had room for but was unable to take. It seems like there is never as much ice as I’d like.
I’m already looking forward to the next adventure!

Sorry I don’t have any pictures that I can post. Out of the three of us, none of us took a camera. My next purchase WILL be a waterproof camera. My Hennessy hammock tent was great. I was the only one who got up early and was not doing the bitch ‘n moan routine about how hard the ground was and how stiff I felt. One of my friends said she was going to place an order for her Hennessy hammock as soon as funds permit.
I am ready to go camping again! We live about an hour from Mammoth Cave National Park and the Green River runs through it. It would the perfect place to hit this upcoming weekend. All I have to do is convince some others to pack up their gear and join in the adventure.
