I currently own & fish from the Ultimate 14.5 Propel and am absolutly satisfied with it's performance. My 18 year calls it the bomb!! It is perfect for me for in shore (flat water) fishing. I will purchase a new kayak this winter for off shore use (the Ultimate does not self bail). The off shore use will be in the Gulf and in Lake Michigan (for trolling). I have settled (I think) down in consideration of the Mariner Propel or the Hobie Mirage Outback. The Mariner is fast (which supports trolling for Kings), comfortable and acceptable in every manner except space to put stuff. My question is regarding the Outback; can I average troll between 3-5 mph & how stable is it? I'm 6'2", 265lbs and stability is mandatory. The cold waters of LM will kill at 5-7 miles out so I have to have a yak that will stay upright in 3-5 ft seas. I'm a Native fan but willing to add others to the fleet for safety. Lemme know........
