has anyone put 12 volt battery in a kayak for lights. i live on the Delaware near Wilmington, Del. if i get caught out after dark i would feel safer. the size of the battery is what concerns me. i know it needs to be marine.

I always take a flashlight because you never know when you may paddle longer than you plan to. It?s happened to me before. A friend was showing me his cap light and I intend to pick one up. It?s so lightweight you would never know it was on board. I?ll keep it in my dry box with my other must have items and if I need to use it I?ll just clip it on my sun visor. I have seen these things at Wal-mart in the sports department. But here?s a link to the light for you. Check out this LED kayak deck light with suction cup base (http://www.kayakreview.org/go/decklight/). That avoids the installation of a marine battery. Happy (and safe) paddling!
