I am new here and in the research mode. I want to get into kayaking and as I have in other areas of something new I have joined forums to learn more before purchasing. I have canoed in the past so I am not new to paddling.

Will be reading posts already posted and asking questions in the other areas.

Hi HowardAuston,
I guess that is what forums like this are all about people sharing their ideas, thoughts and experiences. Since my first thread here in the introduction area my wife and I bought our kayaks and love them. Of course we only have a few other experiences with kayaks so it is really hard to judge or compare kayaks with other kayaks. We bought the Wilderness Tarpons the 100 for the wife and the 120 for me.

Howard you might want to start your own thread in the introduction area so others will see that you are new. where you posted is a continuation in my thread so people see it at a response to my saying Hi. I see that I did not get any other responses besides yours. Glad to meet ya.

What kind of boat are you considering?

Thank you kingsbay, we got past the considering stage and purchased two Wilderness Tarpons, a 120 and a 100 we have had a chance to get out on the water with them and love them. Most of the time we have had them on the local lake but have done a couple of river treks with them. My wife was sceptical and thinking this is just another one of me lame brain ideas, that dont get much use. When we have been out she has thanked me several times for the "idea" We both get out together while getting exercise and enjoying nature and what God intended for us to use it for. Love it

That is great, the Tarpons are good boats and should do very well for you. How great to be doing it together!
