Hi.. I looked for a forum to join to gain knowledge and share experiences with others. I am new/revisiting the sport, meaning I canoed and paddled a kayak when I was younger - Boy Scout Merit Badge:D .

Let me state upfront - somehow I turned 60 and I am returning to the sport. I am active outdoors, my profession is running a ski and snowboard school in the winter and building maintain hiking trails on the mountain in the warm months. I hike a ton, split 12 cord of wood by hand each winter and run. My point being I am capable of much physical activity, and I have an interest in learning more, but I am not considering anything more then moderate river and stream paddling with a lot of flat water - as I plan to fish and camp.

I am sure I have an entry level boat , but it should serve my initial purpose.
I look forward to gaining some value information and anecdotal knowledge.

Hope to be active and involved in this forum. Nice to meet you all. R

Hi,

I?m just getting into kayaking. I am retired and now a part time ski bum (winters only) and live in the Adirondacks. There are many lakes and rivers here that I have enjoyed for years while fishing, paddling my canoe, and a small fishing boat.

Many of my friends kayak and after taking one out and tipping it over while getting out of it (a common occurrence for beginners I?m told) I decided to get my own (after the laughter stopped and I was resuscitated ? just kidding in the resuscitation, although my friends claim I am still unconscious).

I am now searching for the ?right? paddle and have asked for advice under the ?Paddle? section.
