British style,
One of the best designs in high winds and rough water conditions. Low profile, with higher foredeck and bit wider compared to their length. Tight fitting cockpit, favoring more experienced paddlers.

Greenland style,
Also good in high winds and rough waters. Hard chines with high initial stability, fun in surf conditions because the flat sections catch the waves lifting the boat and taking you in with the wave. Low decks which are easy to lay back on making them good for rolling. Small, tight fitting, and narrow hulls create limited room for gear. Originally used for hunting large food sources in the water.

Transitional boat,
The kayak design which is good for many uses. Shorter and wider and slower than most real sea kayaks. Their larger cockpits making getting in and out easier. Some have thigh braces and double bulkheads just like the real boats. Designed for use on calmer waters and are great on lakes and big rivers.
