I've kind of seen this post here and there and haven't found any solid answers. I'm completely new to Kayaking and am looking to purchase my first one. I've scanned the internet and see that most rave about the Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 as a great starter kayak. The only drawback as a beginner is the price point is a little steep considering all of the other gear needed to get going. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy that is a little more price friendly? I appreciate the replies!

Hi,
Check http://www.liquidlogickayaking.com (http://www.liquidlogickayaking.com) for some reviews.
You could always check craigslist, oodle or usfreeads to buy used.
Thanks,

I bought mine at ACK Austin Canoe and Kayak. I bought two wilderness Tarpons look at their package deals and with that you can mix and match some. Such as I did not care for the paddles they included so I up graded to different paddles. Also at the time you buy your kayak they offer 15% on anything purchased free shipping on orders over $39. That and their customer service and knowledgeable staff is top notch.
I know that I sound like a commercial for ACK but dang I truly enjoyed buying from them. http://www.austinkayak.com/

I see you are in the Chicago area so I will suggest some local options for you by way of your local meetup group link.

Check out the site and I’m sure the locals can show you the path. There is a huge listing of places to rent from in your area in the discussions threads. Lots of rental kayak businesses weed out used boats at great prices. It also cuts down on shipping cost to buy local. Good luck!
